Abstract
The Digital Platform Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (DPSMEs) introduced to the world as a disruptive innovation with a new Business Model Innovation (BMI) that relies on actors in the Business Ecosystem to create value. Yet, this innovation process is still unknown in the literature. Based on the analysis of rich qualitative data drawn from an in-depth multiple-case study of six DPSMEs that operate in developing countries, we contribute to the BMI literature by integrating and extending the Activity System, Dynamic Capabilities, and Business Ecosystem perspectives to the SE context.
