Abstract
This study aims to investigate the effect of servant leadership on employee career satisfaction through the mediating lens of relatedness satisfaction. Furthermore, this study also examines whether innovative climate strengthens the positive effect of servant leadership on relatedness satisfaction and subsequently, on employee career satisfaction. Drawing upon the self-determination theory (relatedness satisfaction) the concept of servant leadership is clarified and its influences scrutinized. Questionnaire surveys are administered to the hotel employees (food and beverages) in line with the ethical guidelines. The result revealed that servant leadership is positively related to relatedness satisfaction. In addition, the result demonstrated that the effect of servant leadership on career satisfaction is mediated by relatedness satisfaction Further, the direct effect of servant leadership on career satisfaction was significant. Thus, relatedness satisfaction partially mediates the effect of servant leadership on career satisfaction. Lastly, results also revealed that innovative climate moderated the indirect effect of servant leadership on employee career satisfaction through the mediating lens of relatedness satisfaction.
