Abstract
In today's knowledge-centric economy, workplace learning (WPL) has emerged as a critical determinant for individual and organisational success, necessitating deeper investigations into its antecedents. Utilizing a sample of 546 Vietnamese retail employees, this study employs a hybrid SEM-fsQCA methodology to investigate a novel model of both direct and mediated influences of growth mindset, occupational self-efficacy, and mastery goal orientation on WPL. The research illuminates the pivotal roles of these positive psychological attributes in fostering learning endeavours to develop competencies, particularly underscoring the notable impact of informal WPL. While SEM analysis uncovers sequential mediation pathways constituting a mindset meaning system facilitating WPL and competency enhancement, fsQCA reveals a spectrum of psychological and behavioural combinations conducive to optimal learning outcomes. Besides enriching the WPL knowledge base and extending education-originated psychological theories into business context, this study provides actionable insights for organisations to refine their training and development paradigms, ultimately amplifying workforce proficiency.
