Abstract
The concept of posttraumatic growth (PTG) has garnered significant attention in the field of psychology as an area of positive transformation following exposure to challenging life events. The current paper aims to review the extensive literature on PTG and provide factors that influence PTG and its outcomes. A systematic Literature review was conducted to review the articles. A total of 63 articles were reviewed. Antecedents of PTG encompassed individual characteristics such as personality traits, affective variables, religiosity/spirituality, the nature of the traumatic incident, coping strategies, social/family support, cognitive processes, demographics, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and interventions. Furthermore, the outcomes of PTG extended across various domains, including work, career, affective well-being, positive well-being, cognitive processes, and personal relationships. PTG represents a complex interplay of individual, social, and contextual factors that contribute to positive transformation in the aftermath of trauma. By elucidating the antecedents, outcomes, and processes involved in PTG, this review provides valuable insights into resilience and growth following adversity. Future research should continue to explore the mechanisms underlying PTG and develop targeted interventions to enhance posttraumatic growth in diverse populations
