Abstract
This research explores the perception and impact of psychological contract violations among gig economy workers at a food delivery company in Turkey. Focusing on the unique working conditions and the multi-party business structure of the gig economy, the study aims to understand how these factors contribute to psychological contract breaches and their effects on workers' emotional, cognitive, and behavioral responses. Utilizing a thematic analysis of interviews with gig workers, the study identifies four key themes related to psychological contract breaches: Flexibility and Freedom, Job Security and Stability, Social Support and Sense of Belonging, and Professional Development and Career Opportunities. The findings highlight how the gig economy model significantly influences traditional notions of psychological contract breaches and violations. This study offers valuable insights into the challenges faced by gig workers and proposes recommendations for human resources managers and service providers to foster fairer and more sustainable working conditions in the gig economy.
