Abstract
The Fossil Fuel industry is challenged to meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and peruse efforts to meet the Net-Zero target by 2050, agreed in Paris 2016 during COP26 by all member states of the UN. Oil and Gas companies are required to mitigate its fossil fuel emissions to combat climate change and comply withSDG13. Emissions mitigation is a global sustainability challenge that is to be addressed by the energy industry, as they are challenged to ensure sustainable energy supplies and affordable prices and remain profitable. Whilst this complex global energy challenge has received sparse attention in the Organisational change studies there has been growing calls for the implementation of new transformational initiatives to address the challenge of addressing SDG13 and energy sustainability challenges. In this paper we frame Digital Transformation within Network Leadership research to develop Sustainable Network Leadership approach that contributes towards addressing SDG13 and achieving Net-Zero targets in context of Bahrain Oil and Gas industry. We contribute to the theorisation of leadership by highlighting how specific Network Leadership practices assembles a Sustainable Network Leadership approach that can facilitate the implementation of multiple Digital Transformation initiatives across the energy sector. This paper considers the implications of Sustainable Network Leadership Practices and identifies areas of future Organisational Digital Transformation research.
