Abstract
The study examines the influence of workplace ethics culture, top management commitment, and the institutional environment on organizations’ orientation toward environmental sustainability. Through a survey of 304 employees in Indian organizations, the study explores how both internal and external factors exert pressures on the way organizations react and respond to environmental concerns. Data is analysed using PLS-SEM. Findings indicate that both workplace ethics culture and commitment of top management positively affect environmental sustainability orientation. TMC also plays a moderating role in strengthening the relationship between workplace ethics and environmental sustainability orientation. While institutional environment does not directly impact sustainability orientation, it acts as a moderator, amplifying the effects of both workplace ethics and management commitment. The study emphasises the critical role of ethical culture and leadership in pushing firms to act in more sustainable ways, and the importance of institutional pressures in reinforcing businesses to prioritise sustainable practices.
