Abstract
In recent times, research on dark leadership has offered several definitions of it, focusing on both outcomes and processes. A variety of dark side of leadership, for example, Narcissists, Machiavellians, Psychopaths and Hubris can be found in leadership positions are associated with diverse negative outcomes for society, organisations and followers satisfaction. However, the dark side of leadership is still relatively received limited scholarly attention, particularly, a potential gap within the context of public sectors in Bangladesh. The study is intended to contextualise the recent perspective of dark leadership and develop conceptual framework of political factors impact on the emergence of dark leadership within the context of public sector in Bangladesh. The conceptual model encourages practitioners to understand how leaders become dark leader. The results indicated that political factors directly related to individual capability and political factors through individual capability influences the emergence of dark leadership. A deductive approach of qualitative research applied through thematic analysis to investigate the research questions with sample of 42 participants from the public sectors. The study offered 3 themes about dark leadership which show the causes and consequences, thereby shaping a more holistic approach. This study made a significant theoretical and practical contribution.
