Abstract
This study examines the digital transformation of footwear supply chains (FSCs), using an embedded case study within an original design manufacturer (ODM), we explore the adoption of 3D printing, AI-driven quality assessment, and real-time data analytics to drive efficiency and agility in FSCs. Our findings highlight the challenges of digital knowledge transfer and propose a scalable framework for technology adoption in FSCs. Through an action research study, we apply the IDEF Quality Assessment model to enhance decision-making in digitalised networks. Our study advances discourse on Industry 4.0, digital supply chains, and sustainability-driven innovation, offering actionable insights into the ‘Fuzzy Front-end” of footwear design.
