Abstract
The research work focuses on the significant connection between authentic leadership, project risk management and project success in IT companies. Hence the objective of the study is to determine the effect of authentic leadership on effective project risk management, and hence project success. This is critical in view of IT organizations where effectiveness in the delivery of quality projects is of immense importance. From the literature review, the current study realizes that authentic leadership brings about positive organizational clerical culture, creativity and cooperation, and trust in working groups – all of which are core essentials to the achievement of the tasks.
The research adopts quantitative research methodology, the data collected from the IT project management professional is analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling. This research also tests the Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification as a moderator to the relationship between authentic leadership, project risk management, and project success. The findings of this research show positive correlations between these variables, and it could be concluded that authentic leadership plays an important role in external risks management and in the general success of the IT firms. Practical and theoretical conclusions have been derived and made known to help the practitioners to correct their mistakes while calling for the evolution of real leadership skills in addition to effective risk management for improved results in projects.
