Abstract
The importance of leadership in all of an organization’s processes is critical, since it would shape and define the way in which the organization and employees will react and act during these processes. One such process is that of organizational change. The present study reviews theory on leadership, organizational change and their relation ;the main goal of the study is to define and present the necessary leader competencies that will facilitate organizational change.Regarding the methodology, a secondary survey via critical literature review took place in order to be identified leadership competencies that are required to implement planned organizational changes. The main conclusion is that there is interdependence between leadership and change . Change requires leaders that are capable of altering their leadership styles in order to accommodate the required competencies and allow for the seamless implementation of the planned change. It can not be singled out a leadership style with respect to the implementation of change, but rather a combination of different leadership styles each adding a required competence.
