Abstract
Studies of organizational change have been an enduring interest of scholars and practitioners. Capabilities linked to organizational change have been primarily researched though the examination of individuals’ capabilities in change. With organizational change capability, research is much scarce. What is more, definitions and descriptions on organizational change capability suffer from lack of preciseness. In this paper, the concept of organizational change capability is analyzed and further developed via a literature review, supported by an empirical study. The findings suggest that the concept of organizational change capability is linked to multiple clusters of capabilities, and that individual change capability is seen as a crucial component of organizational change capability. This paper contributes by further clarifying the concept organizational change capability, enabling much-needed further studies on the subject matter.
