Abstract
In developing countries such as Pakistan, the scarcity of financial and non-financial resources urges organizations to encourage workplace pro-environmental behaviors to reduce the adverse effects of solid and liquid waste, which causes pollution to be unacceptable. Therefore, based on social identity theory, the current investigation aims to determine the relationship between authentic leadership, green organization support, and workplace pro-environmental behaviors. The current study also examines the mediating role of green organization support in relationships between authentic leadership and workplace pro-environmental behaviors. The data was collected from 194 Pakistani hospitality sector employees through self-administered questionnaires using snowball sampling. SEM was used to analyze and study the hypotheses. The results supported the significant positive impact of authentic leadership, green organization support, and workplace pro-environmental behaviors.
Additionally, green organization support mediates between authentic leadership and workplace pro-environmental behaviors. The findings provided significant implications by highlighting workplace pro-environmental behaviors and green organization support in the hospitality sector. This study necessitated that the hospitality sector pay attention to and improve the workplace pro-environmental behaviors and green organization support strategies and policies to have an eco-friendly hospitality sector.
