Abstract
This literature review explores the influence of social media influencers (SMIs) on consumer behaviour in the Kingdom of Bahrain, with a focus on the food tourism industry. It addresses various facets, including consumer behaviour, social commerce, marketing communications, a brief overview of social media influencers, culture and tourism, and SMIs impact on consumers’ attitudes toward the food/restaurant industry in Bahrain. Bilro and Loureiro (2020) highlight a research gap in media engagement and advocate for studying the influence of SMIs on customer behaviour. This study seeks to fill this gap, acknowledging the scarcity of research on SMI influence in Bahrain and its unique cultural and religious contexts. The planned methodology for the research is briefly outlined at the end.
