Abstract
Effective project management (PM) for nature recovery requires collaboration, robust monitoring, and contracts linked to ecosystem performance, guided by sustainable project management (SPM) principles. Despite the need for ethical, transparent, and impact-driven approaches, conventional PM frameworks often overlook environmental and social dimensions, limiting long-term success. In the UK, funding models reward measurable ecosystem services, yet a shortage of green skills remains a barrier. Professional bodies recognize the demand for sustainability-focused competencies, but gaps persist in equipping project professionals for evolving challenges. Our research examines the knowledge and skills essential for effective PM in nature recovery, capturing stakeholder insights to inform future training and development. The findings will support the creation of a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme, enhancing professional capabilities to deliver scalable, sustainable projects that address contemporary and future needs.
