Abstract
Effective communication is the key to running a smooth and successful healthcare setup. An efficient workflow can only be maintained in this human-centred and time-sensitive industry if the right information is delivered to the right person at the right time. Within a healthcare setting, effective communication processes keep the workflow together. As a result, the level of effective communication processes within a healthcare setting has a direct impact on the quality of care provided. According to the literature, having effective communication processes within the hospital can have an impact on the four dimensions listed below: (1) resource utilisation efficiency; (2) effectiveness of core operations; (3) work-life quality; and (4) service quality. Alertive App is a digital communication platform designed to improve the effectiveness of hospital communication processes. In this research, the impact of the Alertive App will be measured against the four effective communication dimensions mentioned above. To achieve the research objectives, a multi-method approach will be used. The Alertive App and the conventional pager system will be compared in terms of effective communication. A Time-Motion study will be conducted using the two platforms to determine the time required to delegate and complete a standard task within the hospital, followed by surveys and interviews.
