However, the capability of various AI methods in terms of improving firm performance to produce more positive outcomes is unclear. With a systematic review and data from 106 articles over a period of 47 years, the current study identified four key knowledge fields that address the AI and firm performance literature in innovation management, service marketing, IT management, and innovation management. The study then compares different approaches applied in each field to define AI and firm performance, as well as identified gaps in the literature. Based on this investigation, a future framework has been developed and provides potential guidelines for future research undertaking.
